AD Commodities Rural
AD Commodities Rural headquarters are located in the renowned Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales, Australia. AD Commodities Rural owns and manages a number of significant properties in this region. This region is known for breeding and fattening high quality livestock throughout the year. A range of basalt and trap soils combined with an annual rainfall of between 850mm and 1200mm provide some of the more productive country in Australia.
AD Commodities Rural strives to produce genetically superior cattle and sheep, under ethical conditions, which will provide a product that is safe and healthy for the consumer, while incorporating and maintaining sustainability practices. Our vision is to produce high quality beef and lamb in the most sustainable way with the highest regard for the paddock to plate process.
Our methodology as “custodians for the next generation” underpins our approach to sustainability of breeding programs and soils. This is paramount to ensuring the future productivity of our breeding programs and producing healthy functional livestock. The livestock are run as self-replacing breeding programs of Angus cattle, F1 Wagyu cattle and Lambpro sheep. We maintain a J-BAS7 Johnes-free herd, and all of our cattle are HGP-free and EU accredited.
Wagyu F1 Cattle
The production of AD Commodities Rural F1 Wagyu cattle is based on the highly successful cross of high performing Angus females with carefully selected Wagyu bulls.
The females are based on Bald Blair Angus genetics, which we have selected over many years. The cow herd is selected on traits such as marbling, meat quality, structure, fertility, milk and temperament.
The bulls’ genetics are based on Edwards Livestock and Wattletop Wagyu (Michifuku). Bulls are selected for structure, high marbling, fertility, temperament, high eye muscle area and high retail beef yield.
Our aim is to produce high marbling F1 Wagyu that are efficient on feed and who are sound performers in every step of the supply chain. The cattle we produce must perform for feedlotters and ultimately the end user at point of retail.
Our philosophy is to build loyalty in the supply chain through delivering a high quality product every time.
Angus Cattle
Our commercial steer progeny are targeted towards the feedlot sector, in particular the Japanese market, with steers usually going to Jacks Creek Feedlot, Breeza. The majority of the commercial females are currently used as replacement females with regular consignments being exported live.
The cow herd is based on traits such as structure, fertility, milk, temperament, meat quality and marbling.
Bulls are selected for structure, fertility, temperament, high marbling, high eye muscle area and high retail beef yield.
The Bald Blair origins date back to 1888, when the Bald Blair Angus herd was started by the White Brothers. It is now owned and operated by Sam White and family at ‘Bald Blair’, Guyra, New South Wales, Australia.
Lambpro Sheep
The Lambpro/Primeline maternal breeding program focuses on the production of moderate framed, highly fertile ewes with high muscle and tight skins. The outcome is cutting edge maternal genetics that maximise kilograms per hectare and dollars per kilogram.
Lambpro is based at ‘Sonning’, Holbrook, New South Wales, Australia. It is a family owned and run business managed by the Bull family.
